Taranis, also known as Taranus, is the Celtic god of thunder. He is often portrayed as a bearded man with a wheel. The Romans he was syncretised with their thunder-god Jupiter.

Taranis presumably have his origin in the Proto-Indo-European god Perkwunos.

In Roman sources, say that the celts maked human sacrifice in his honor through a giant wood man, but don´t exist evidences of human sacrifice in celtics lands.
