Fauns are nature spirits (genii) of untamed woodlands in Roman mythology. They belong to a god named Faunus and loveto dance and play the flute. They are more jovial and benign.

Characteristics

Appearance

Fauns a goat people, usually male who have the top half of a human but with horns, and the bottom half of a goat with hooves.

Although female fauns are more prevalent in modern depictions, in original mythology the main female faun is a goddess Bona Dea.

Differences between Satyrs and Fauns

Although Romans connected their Fauns to the Greek satyrs, wild and orgiastic drunken followers of Bacchus (Greek Dionysus). However, they were originally quite different creatures, as Satyrs had human feet.
