One day, a holy man told King Vikram to fetch a corspe from a tree. Upon reaching the tree, King Vikram discovered the corspe was in the hands of a baital. On the walk back, the baital told stories to King Vikram, each ending with a riddle. After the twenty-fifth story King Vikram was wise and remained silent. This pleased the baital, who revealed the holy man intended to kill him. King Vikram chopped of the holy man's head, putting an end to his would-be murderer.
