Aurora was the Roman goddess of the Dawn. Her Greek equivalent was Eos.

- The natural light displays that occur at high latitude (Artic and Antarctic) regions, the Aurora Borealis and Aurora Australia, are named after her. The Aurora Borealis, appearing in the north, also takes part of its name from Boreas, the god of the north wind and son of Eos.
