What's on your mind?
This is a discussion thread for how we should go about naming the Norse pages. Some prefer using the Old Norse, while others prefer using the Anglicized names.
Please use this discussion forum to express your opinions on the matter. The most important thing is that the website is consistent in how it names things across the various types of mythologies. So the choice we make here may affect how we name the other mythologies as well.
Please make sure to be respectful when making your arguments.
What is it with monsters and having to count things? Fairies have to count salt and sugar, vampires count rice and seeds. What's that all about?
Are they jinn or demons? Because I've seen some conflicting sources.
So are they a species or a group? Also, I wrongly classed them in the "angelus" genus, due to their resemblance to those.
It's the first day of Fall, and Halloween is fast approaching! Starting October 1st lets emphasize pages associated with Halloween and everything spooky!
Pages to consider working on during the month of October:
Also, consider adding new pages! There still isn't a page on Halloween, or pages for the ancient holidays that influenced it. There also isn't a page for witches.
Enjoy your Fall everyone!
Most of us unanimously agree the Roman Gods and the Greek Gods are the same by different names, right?
They're unique from gods of other pantheons, right? Because I just whacked "Olympian" into Zeus' species row.
Early today Sannse gave us feedback concerning the admin issue. The summary is as follows:
Two people attempted to inappropriately affect the vote, and those two people had their admin rights removed.
X-Mutant, who had been erasing pages for inappropriate and ideological reasons, has been banned from the site.
Everyone else should have the same admin/bureaucrat status as before the votes.
I personally, am happy with the outcomes, and happy to now move forward.
Sannse thinks that we have too many bureaucrats on the site, but suggests that we avoid voting on anything else to allow things to cool off and settle.
I agree with Sannse, but before we allow things to cool off, I think that we should all agree to:
A 6 month hold on promoting people to admin status, and...
A hold on bureaucrat promotions for the foreseeable future until it's actually needed.
Can all people who are still admins please reply as to whether or not you agree to my proposition? Thanks!
Looking forward to growing our knowledge of mythology and folklore together.
Voting for who will remain as admins officially ends tomorrow (Monday) at noon (Pacific time). Thank you to everyone who has participated.
Recently KRJones87 and I had a conversation about removing Masonthetrex0916's fanart. At first I asked the reason of removing fanart to him. He said to me that he doesn't think it would be good for the site if anyone can upload their own fanart.
He also said that some criteria he uses when adding media to the site is that the media has to be either:
a. historically relevant
b. culturally relevant
He said that the drawings don't have any historical relevance, don't seem to be referencing anything cultural relevant and have no educational value.
Besides the criteria above he complained to me was the artistic quality of the art.
It seem that the similar complaints were in Masonthetrex0916's message wall. It's said that he/she does not recommend put fanart in galleries unless asked by permission.
In this case, we should have discussion about deletion of his fanart, since they are personal files, and personal files are not allowed to exist in this site. Let me ask your opinion about this.
(Sorry for inconvenience of writing. My computer monitor has melted down)
All articles focus only on characters, religions and organisms, but mythology is not just for supernatural, because it was official science it is also for any studiable myths in all literary genres and sciences and not limited to classical religions, Robots and AIs for example are real but have many myths about them, phenomenons and tools have also myths about them, mythology focus in science view of myths but it is also studying religious and literary views
There has recently been some conflict between the bureaucrats/admins of this wiki. As there doesn't seem to be a chance of agreement at the moment, this thread is to decide who should keep their rights, and who should be removed.
Each of the active bureaucrats and admins should write a reply to this outlining why they should stay as admin. This is not a chance to bash each other, keep it polite.
Then the whole community can vote on who they want to stay in their current role.
The format for this vote should be a list of the names you want to keep their rights. You can also comment on why you think those people are the best guardians of the wiki. Again, keep it polite.
It's important not to get into a fight (again) here. If you don't like what someone says, it's not a reason to get into an argument. Just leave it as that person's position and move on.
I will be monitoring the discussion, but this your community, and it's up to you to fix it.
If you have any questions, comments, or issues please contact us. We're all working hard organizing and cleaning up this wiki.
You can all help us out by filling out already existing stub pages, adding references and citations to pages lacking them, or create a new page!
A very old woman in Delhi (before many years) told me a story about Goddess
Gradapontharitsa. She told me that it was a forgotten deity. She has over her
bed, a, made of stone, head from this goddess. Anybody know anything,
about this goddess?
I am asking because i found in web (for sale) the same head and i want to buy
it.( maybe is very rare and worth much money...)
So i'm looking at this Wikia's activity, and the last thing there is is from Jan 3, 2106. Is this Wikia dead? I mean there are so many things to talk about! Wot?
Happy New Year, everyone.
After putting up with years of unregistered users (also known as "A Wikia Contributor"'s), they are finallly no longer able to contribute to the wiki without signing up for a Wikia account. This decreases the amount of vandalism by more than half. Additionally, it is easier to control it and put a stop to it from registered users since usernames are unqiue ways of ID while long IP numbers can be confused with similar ones.
